Community Service

Our club engages in community service through service area committees.  Following are some of our popular projects.

PUBLIC LIBRARY

Education & Libraries Committee

The Woman's Club has been a long time supporter and advocate of the Hopkins County Madisonville Public Library. From 1975 to the present, the Club has helped fund a children's area in the library including a mural, books and furnishings. This committee is also actively involved in a Book Club and providing books for the community.

HALLOWEEN WINDOW PAINTING

Arts & Culture Committee

Halloween Window Painting, a long-standing tradition in downtown Madisonville, is sponsored in conjunction with the Downtown Turnaround Project and the City of Madisonville. Awards are presented to each age group and winners enjoy the notoriety of creating a masterpiece for all to see in Madisonville.

BIKES A-BLOOM

Environment Committee

On-going efforts by the Club to beautify our city include the Bicycle Project, the Memorial Tree Walk at the Madisonville City Park, the Madisonville welcome sign on East Center Street, plantings at the Farmer's Market Pavilion and Ballard Convention Center, as well as donations to the Downtown Turnaround Primrose Project.

WALK MADISONVILLE!

Health & Wellness Committee

The group participated in a walking challenge to walk across Kentucky, and this expanded into the community with the development of a downtown walking tour that anyone can enjoy. This committee also promotes health-related events such as breast cancer awareness and heart health awareness.

WESTERN KY VETERANS CENTER

Civic Engagement & Outreach Committee

Volunteers work with veterans on a regular basis in the gift shop, decorating for holidays, collecting magazines for residents,  dog therapy,  and in providing entertainment for special events.

STUDENT ART CONTEST

The Woman's Club sponsors a student art contest each year that offers Hopkins County students an opportunity to exhibit their art work at the Glema Center for the Arts. Winners in the high school division can also complete on the district and state levels.
